Read the exact clearance wording
An existing Baseline, NV1 or NV2 clearance is not the same as a general background check. A requirement to obtain an Australian Government security clearance also matters: AGSVA normally requires Australian citizenship and a checkable background. A sponsoring entity may request an exceptional waiver, but this is not guaranteed.
Check whether the listing says a clearance is essential now, required later, or merely preferred. If the wording is vague, ask the employer which requirement actually applies to the role.
