Working-rights-aware search

Canberra tech jobs without clear PR or citizenship requirements

This selection leaves out jobs that clearly require Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or citizen/PR-only status. General working-rights language may still be compatible with a subclass 485 visa.

Clear barriers versus broad wording

Statements such as ‘Australian citizens only’ or ‘permanent residents required’ are strong barriers. Phrases such as ‘must have Australian working rights’ are more general and may still include temporary graduates.

Do not infer that a role accepts every visa just because it does not mention citizenship or PR. Check your current visa conditions in VEVO and read the employer's full requirements.

Resolve uncertainty before investing time

If the ad says 'full working rights' or uses another broad phrase, ask the recruiter whether your current visa and its expiry date meet the role's requirements. Confirm that the original listing is still open before preparing a tailored application.
